This week we had a meeting with a difference in that members were asked to bring in their cameras and had the chance to shoot portraits of Ivory Flame a professional model
The evening was mentored by Jules and Phil who gave a brief intro on how they would approach such a shoot and also allowed us to use their very lighting set-up
As an aside Ian also provided a tutorial session into the new features of Lightroom.

Good studio shot. like the lighting, but the skin needs a lot of work, lower part of the face is too dark which makes it look dirty, The light only needed to be on the eyes, then the lower part of the face would be Ok. Hand to bright.

i would like to think that this was a well spotted silhouette and not a processed shot.would have tried to change the view point just a little so that the right hand side of the pair was over the edge of the frame or cropped it in a little. the camera angle is just a little off (perspective)

Good set up shot. Lighting used effectively to show strength. A little catch light on the earring is a little distracting it needs removing. He was also Awarded an FIAP Ribbon for this image in the 43rd Welsh International plus another GPU Ribbon for “Singapore Bay Gardens”
Tonight was the annual Cedars Challenge unfortunately relegated from the 4 way comp to an Interclub with Lutterworth Co-op PS
It also had a late replacement in the Judge with Peter R. Gennard MFIAP EFIAP/d1 – Smethwick Photographic doing the honours and giving some very insightful comments on all the images.

Last night although forced due to technical issues back to home Zoom saw the first of our guest speakers Phil Savoie BS MS MFA who presented his talk “Principles Of Photography”
To say the least an inspiring talk that covered many aspects of both his photographic journey and photography in general.
It included unsurprising many awe inspiring images, lots of useful information on a wide range of topics from Lens design to useful “cheap” gadgets & tip’s and tricks of the trade.

Wednesday 1st Sept 2021 saw a return to normality with the first face to face meeting of the Club in 18 months. It was also the first meeting of the 2021/22 Season and the Presentation evening for the 2020/21 Season
