Yes, we stop having meetings during the school holidays as the college is usually closed. We start again in September, your more than welcome to come along and see what we do. The first 3 visits are free, and we usually have some "learning" based themes to the first few meetings.

Think I may have joined at the wrong time of year since the holidays are just starting, but I've only just come accross the Earl Shilton Camera Club so better late than never...

I was looking into studying photography part time at nuneaton college but thought I could probably learn more being surrounded by those who share an interest in it. I'm guessing things are winding down now, but how do I go about getting involved?

2 questions...

1) The photo you uploaded to flickr will get pulled randomly into the flickr badge on the left hand side of the gallery page.

2) The username and password only become valid once admin have approved the membership, if you try and use it before it approved you'll get an error. Do you want to keep the first username / password you requested ? I'll delete the others and look at the sign-up form to make it clearer.

2 questions...

Ist....have uploaded photo to flickr but can only see it when I am signed in and not when I am just looking at the clubs photos....

2nd....have had to create new user accounts each time I log onto clubs own site as password is not recognised...so now have 3 accounts....how can I delete two of these?????

Uploading photos....

At the moment, only the website admin can upload pictures to the site. We tend to put the entries into the club competitions online. I have setup a group on flickr for anyone to upload their images to. Hopefully we'll see some of yours in there. A selection of the flickr images get randomly shown on this website.

I'm also struggling to get to the club every week due to work commitments, but I hope to see you at the club soon.

Just want to say hello to everyone...I am new to the site and forum and hopefully will make it to the Club on a wednesday some time after Easter...work shifts so not able to attend every week. I did attend the Open Morning and liked what I saw.

Earl Shilton v Ashby Battle

Hello,

Just to let you know, for those who cant wait until Easter has passed, we beat Ashby in the battle of clubs on Wednesday night. 20 v 20 and we sneaked it by 14 points (I think). Very interesting to those who haven't been before as the judge gives his critique on all prints, some good, some bad. Also free tea and choccy biccy. Lovely, proper tea cups as well. It seems a long way from home as the club sneaks into Derbyshire! But its also 30 mins from the club. Well done to Geoff and Trevor as their pics did better than most. Have a good Easter everyone.

MIDPHOT 2008

MIDPHOT 2008 - 15 March 2008

The 45th Annual Exhibition of the Midland Counties Photographic Federation took place 12-16 March at The Old Schoolhouse in Oldbury. It is the premier exhibition in the Midlands that allows all members of the 62 clubs affliated to the Federation to show off their work. Out of all the 3497 prints, images and panels entered, only 822 were selected. The categories included were Monochrome, Colour and Nature Prints, Creative Panels and General and Nature Projected Images.

It was my first visit to MIDPHOT and I was certainly impressed with the high level of photography. With some many pictures to look at its difficult to pick out the real gems from the collection. However there is a picture by Ian Gould of Trent Valley PS of 2 dolphins is exceptional. The timing was as spot on as you could ever wish. Hopefully within the next month the best picture will be on the MCFP website as last year's was. I also participated in the Still Life session during Saturday morning. The people their were friendly and probably pleased to see someone different from another club from with the area.

I have a catalogue which I purchased at the exhibition and will bring it to the club after Easter when we have our next club meeting so that other members can have a look. It well worth a visit and maybe next year encourage more members to make an effort to at least visit the exhibition, if not enter. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!!

Last year's results and prints are available at the MCPF website and I'm sure 2008 results and prints will be on there soon.

Mounted Frames from Ebay

Hi everyone,

I've found a really good shop on ebay that sells cheap mounted frames so that you can display your prized photos if you don't have the facility to make your own. I purchased a job lot of 100 all different sizes and coloured for £17 inc P+P. Bargain! That's 17p each. I know for a fact that the frame to fit A4 photos sells at in excess of £2.50 each in Hobbycraft.

Just a quick post to say I've just signed up for the web site. Hopefully will meet a few of you in time. I'm a relative newcomer to photography - been practising for only about 3 years now.

I have a couple of cameras - both Canon EOS - a 350d and a shiney new 40D. Use Photoshop CS3 for processing, along with lightroom and print on an HP D6160. Just bought some studio lights and I'm busy trying to learn the dark art of portrait work!

Hoping to improve my skills as time goes by and always keen to learn from the more experienced!

Website Updated

Hi folks, you may have noticed over the christmas break that the website has changed slightly. Well, i have revised the site with some new features:

1) A new membership section which will enable the Website Administrator to approve members online.

2) A forum section for club members to communicate with each other.

3) The Website Administrator can update the competitions and links sections on online.

There are a few more improvements to be made over the next couple of months so please bear with me. Any suggestions for new features would be most welcome.
