May 2010 - News Update
Attention Members - The next three meetings are the last of the 2009/2010 year, all of them are very important in this year's calendar.
On Wednesday 19th May we have the "Image of the Year" where members can enter their favouite image taken over the last 18 months (only one image per member). This will be judged by an external, qualified judge. This year by Terry Bickley who is both very experienced and very amusing. Also, the chosen images will feature in the forthcoming inter-club competitions.
The following Wednesday 26th May, we have the AGM and planning meeting. This is your opportunity to influence the way the Club progresses in the next year. It's a bit like the election - if you don't vote, you can't really criticise the way the Club is run. Have your say on the day or your opinion will not be heard. Nominations for Officers must be sent to Andy Long. Please ensure you have the permission of the nominee. In particular, we are looking for a Treasurer to succeed Keith who is standing down.
The 2010 ESCC Presentation Night is being held at the King William Pub lounge Room, The Hollow, Earl Shilton, on Wednesday June 9th starting at 7.30pm. The pub is within 20 yds of the traffic lights on the junction with Station Rd. on the main drag through Earl Shilton. There is a large car park at the rear accessed by a driveway to the right of the pub. Enter the lounge from the car park at the rear of the Pub.
As well as the presentations there will be a general knowledge quiz. For this quiz, teams of maximum 6 people are required which can either be pre-arranged or sorted on the night. A finger buffet will be provided and there is a bar in the lounge. Prizes will be awarded.
In addition, it has been suggested that we re-introduce a print competition on the subject of "humour". So anyone wishing to enter a print, please bring along on the night. This will be judged by all present.
A charge of £5 per person will be charged. Brett need to know final numbers and cash by the AGM on May 26th. So please let Brett have names and the fee on or before that date. Wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, partners, and husbands are all welcome. The quiz will start at 8.00pm so please arrive in plenty of time. The buffet will be served around 9.00pm.
